Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives: May 5, 2018 (Stream + Tracklist): Jah-tucky Derby Stylee!

Congrats to 2018 Kentucky Derby winner Justify

Greetings,

Jamaicans love horse racing too. Every Kentucky Derby Saturday I try to spin a set devoted to Jamaican horse racing. Just as the bugle starts and gates fly, open I drop the bass and go for m own musical horse race.

In Jamaica, their main track is called Caymanas Park. And the jockeys tend to be Chinese-Jamaicans rather than Latin Americans, as in the US.

<Caymanas Park; 39 sec.>

And because this is Reggae, the best song is a track by Bojangles from when the Two Sevens Clashed (’77) on a grooving Culture riddim, he relays the race between these contenders in the Selassie I Cup: 24 sec.

  1. Babylon 2-1
  2. Soul Youth 3-1
  3. Rome – Even
  4. Pope Pius 3-5 (the guy in the Vatican in 1977)
  5. Dreadlocks 8-1
  6. Baldhead 15-1
  • Win! – Dreadlocks
  • Place! – Baldhead
  • Show! – Soul Youth

And here is what happened to Pope Pius….22 sec.

Pope Pius couldn’t finish out in the Selassie I Cup and the ambulance was called — Bojangles, ’77

Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives: Jah-pril 28, 2018 (Stream + Tracklist) – Peace Chalice!

Good thing we smoked the peace chalice. Not another war!

<Korean Peace Talks – Light up the chalice!; 16 sec.>

Greetings,

I graduated High School in 1983. Right as I was getting ready to matriculate at Montana State University in Bozeman, three major events sent me off:

  1. Soviets shot down a Korean airliner
  2. Marine barracks bombing in Beirut killed several hundred Americans
  3. America invaded the tiny island of Granada.
Fall 1983: Ronnie Raygun saving the Granadan people from an invasion of Cuban doctors

Welcome to the Cold War, son. After surviving  the first one, who wants to live through the sequel: Russia/China/Syria Iran vs. US/UK/France/Israel.

China rattling Taiwan. India and Pakistan nose to nose. And Trump came in and immediately gave North Korea the hairy eyeball. So I was very encouraged that the two  Koreas want peace.

Everyday I get to drop the needle pon the record at KRCL instead of a nuclear bomb shelter, it’s a good day.

So enjoy another World War III free edition of Smile Jamaica

bless, Bobbylon

U.S Cross Country Olympic Ski Team

Greetings,

So I was getting ready to go on air in the last half hour of Smile Jamaica. The phone rings and I pick up. The guy on the other line was pretty animated. “Hey Robert, I’m here with the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team in South Korea and we are listening to your show. Play us a tune.”

<Crown of Creation livicated to the U.S. Olympic Cross Country Ski Team; 22 sec.>

Wow! If true, I am sure the Dubstep/Mutant Dub set I was about to spin would match heavy bass to skiing a fast race. I dunno? They did medal for the first time at the Olympics. Or as I call it, the Jah-lympics

The Healing of the Nation

Greetings,

<Digital story on my parents’ excursion into Medical Marijuana; 1 min. 46 sec.>

As an amateur missionary for the benefits of medical marijuana, I had been relaying the story of my parents’ excursions into Seven Leaf pain relief on the past two episodes of Smile Jamaica.

My parents just became snowbirds from Northern Montana to Sun City West, Arizona

Christmas 2017 in the homeland

My Mom has knee pain, anxiety and sleep issues and my dad: neuropathy, back pain and carpal tunnel issues. Last week I told the story about taking my Dad in to get a Medical MJ card.

<Medical Marijuana for Ma and Pa; 90 sec.>

Took a week to get the card, and I was back in Utah. So they went to the dispensary and had a little shopping spree

  1. pain relief pills
  2. topical CBD ointment
  3. pain patch

Because they bought so much and were first time customers, they got a free vape pen. And bought a 4 to 1; CBD to THC cartridge.

Better than Walgreens or CVS

Long story short: they call me for guidance on how to work the vape pen. Trial and error and voila! My parents are vaping like Bob & Rita Marley.

And hour later I get another call….”We’re not feeling anything.” I said, you got the stuff that doesn’t “feel”.  Oh. Ok.

Last Sunday I call and looks like Mom wants to try a little more kick to her healing regimen. Why not? It’s medicinal and legal.

Last Friday my sister texts me: Mom and Dad just had a toke!

Me: Cheech & Chong!

Sis:

Me:

I had a listener call me after I told this story and we got into a discussion about having parents who are sick of the pills, cost and side effects of the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex

Once the (recent) stigma of weed is overcome through the relief of daily pain and social anxiety, cannabis reclaims its rightful place in our 10,000 year history of the Seven Leaf plant.

Revelation 22:2King James Version (KJV)

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

As I concluded my reasoning with the caller on the benefits of cannabis for our parents, he said, “You know Robert? You’re a good son.”

And I said, I really want my parents to enjoy their retirement pain free and unencumbered by the daily pill regimen they are currently under. However, I am definitely taking my vape pen with me on my next visit to Sun City West.

A little dab will do ya!

Bless, Bobbylon

Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives: Jah-cember 2, 2017 (Stream + Tracklist) Vinyl Cratedig Rinse-out!

Zia Records on West Sahara in Las Vegas. Great source for black wax

Greetings,

2017 was a topsy turvy year for the Smile Jamaica Ark-ives. Massive home remodel was supposed to start Nov. 2016. Alas, weather, Questar natural gas company and Salt Lake City zoning couldn’t agree on when to move my gas line. WHICH WAS UNDER MY HOUSE!

Stones Throw’ record label brags about “my vinyl weighs a ton!” Mine actually did. I had so many records packed into my Record Room that it sunk the floor below the baseboards.

Surprised a racoon or Burmese python didn’t come in through the hole in my floor, sunk below the baseboard!

So the depressing and frustrating delays didn’t even start until March 2017. Seven months of building out an actual physical archive. No more storing boxes of CDs in the bathroom, bedroom, garage and hallway!

Pre-remodel: Bedroom
Pre-Remodel storage shed
Pre-Remodel – Garage

Like any home remodel it was a daily grind of aggravation and interruption to my routine. (If you see me ask me about the bong and the Koran story.)

But once it was done, $25k in over-runs regardless, it has been awesome! New roof, new garage, new AC/furnace/gasline, siding.

I’m no longer that house on the block that looks like a shack with strange smells and jungle drums booming to the street!

Before….
…After

***

From my usual cratedig excusion during Thanksgiving Week to Las Vegas 2016 through Fall 2017,  I had done a moratorium on cratedigging. Didn’t see the point in just stacking up new titles til my Archive was finished.

During any major remodel, you can’t really leave the city in case the workmen need a decision. My house was built in 1901. A half ass renovation conducted in the early 90’s and I bought it in 1995.

So there were a lot of problems that needed construction troubleshooting.

Once I paid my final tab to my contractor: $5,059. Ouch! I was stoked to make up for lost time and hit Vegas with a vengeance.

And as I said on Smile Jamaica last week. Glad to be only a cliche’ and not a criminal in the land of 8 down!

bless, Bobbylon

Words of Wisdom:

Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives: Jah-vember 11, 2017 (Stream+ Tracklist): Acoustic Levitation inna Irie Meditation!

Temple of Jupiter at Baalbek Lebanon. Prior to the Romans, it was a temple to the God Baal

Greetings,

How did they do it?

Every Friday I get together with my bredrins Mike and Aquaboy for bourbon and banter.

If you are regular listener to Smile Jamaica, you are well acquainted with my recent fascination with Ancient Aliens.

The television series on the History Channel goes into the notion that antiquity and all of its massive structures were effected by visiting Aliens we mistook as Sky Gods.

How did they carve out massive stone structures like the Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek, Lebanon (base slab is 1200 tons of a single cut stone?  By my Liberal Arts  math, that’s 2,400,000 pounds!

Or Puma Punku in Bolivia? How did “primitive” peoples haul multiple stone blocks (130 tones – 260,000 pounds) 10,000 feet up the mountain. They stack these massive blocks on top of each other with such precision you can’t get a human hair between the blocks. Who needs mortar?

Puma Punku in Western Bolivia

I’ll tell you how they did it: Acoustic Levitation.

The things that modern construction can’t do today. Lifting that weight with cranes or multiple cranes? Ancient Astronauts achieved these stupendous feats by using sound to move those stones into place.

In the last episode I watched, as a Sound Engineer/Deejay, I was fascinated by how sound equates to energy. It is why the most effective prayer must be recited out loud: in cathedrals, temples, tabernacles and mosques. It is the sound of prayer that produces powerful energy.

I play a song in the second half of this podcast edition called God is Great. The power of Muslim prayer, thousands in synchronicity reciting prayers heard by God. Allahu Akbar – God is Great.

And so…one man’s Skygod is another’s Ancient Alien. I want to think The Watchers plugged in big stacks of speakers and pumped heavy bass to lift those hundreds of thousands of pounds into place.

Imagine a Nubian ancestor of Jah Shaka plugging in and firing off dub shots while the Ancient Astronauts looked on in approval as sound equates energy.

Jah Shaka, co-inventor of Mutant Dub, practicing some acoustic levitation

The Anunnaki – the originators of Mutant Dub?

Acoustic levitation inna Irie meditation. How the Ancients “got high”.

bless, Bobbylon

How many decibels to lift the Pyramids into place? I want that subwoofer!

Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives: Jah-vember 4, 2017 (Stream + Tracklist): Ancient Astronaut Theory Suggests!

Greetings,

I have told this story on air many times. I did political interviews on KRCL between 2003 (Iraq War) and 2012 when a new station GM  – hired from Clear Channel radio – told me if I wanted to continue doing Progressive Political interviews I had to do two things

  1. Quit expressing opinions
  2. Must be objective.

I said no thanks and quit. I wasn’t going to dumb down my content like the CIA News Network or Washington Compost: being a stenographer of the news.

I quit radio interviews ratherr than being the radio equivalent of a presstitute stenographer

I would put a huge amount of time into that one hour, weekly interview. Post “retirement” I was left with a significant gap in free time.

That’s when I discovered a new time suck: Ancient Aliens on the History Channel.

As an Assyrian-American, a huge part of the show is about the Sumerians who wrote about contact from Astronauts (we humans mistook for Sky Gods.)

Do not scoff! Look to the skies!

I binged watched everything to catch up on all that history/cosmology.

So it wasn’t long before I started combing through the Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives “probing” (pun intended) for UFO themed Reggae tunes.

Believe it or not, I could fill a 60 CD suitcase and a record bag full of examples on sets I call UFO-ria (euphoria, get it?).

From the Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives

Now every July 2 (Roswell UFO crash anniversary) I do 3 hours of Alien fascination that rules the nation!

July 2, 1947 Roswell, New Mexico

just like my traditions of Jah-loween, 4:20 and Bob Marley Tribute shows.

I’ve really gotten into it to the point where someone said, “Do you believe in this for real or is it entertainment?”

I said: I guess I do believe in it. Ancient Astronaut Theory  makes the most ‘sensi’. to me.”

From the Smile Jamaica Ark-Ives

Ancient Astronauts, mistaken by humans as Sky Gods, created mankind to mine gold to take back to their planet Nibiru: the 12th Planet or Planet X.

Guess what? They had wrecked their home world through environmental degradation (just like Earth) and needed gold to re-generate their atmosphere on Nibiru.

If you are on my Twitter at SmileJ_KRCL. I post 3 topics:

  1. Reggae and Radio
  2. Alt-Left, anti corporate Democratic Party snark
  3. UFOria

Now I tell my friends, forced to endure my proselytizing, that I put the “man” in Manichaean and the “fun” in Sumerian Fundamentalism.

Anu is my Sky God. The Greeks called him Zeus

So I did a radio show last week with a UFO set. Just finished up Season 10 DVD of Ancient Aliens.

Guess what? My beef with archaeologists is that their calculations on when these massive structures from antiquity were built was thousand of years off.

Giza Plateau – Anunnaki Tessaract (space ships) powered by the pyramid energy.

Listen to my clip about the Great Pyramid of Giza that proves my point: Not 2500 BC, 10500 BC.

It’s not Khufu/Cheops’ tomb. It’s a power station for the Anunnaki’s Spaceships when they left and landed at the Sinai Spaceport.

Praise Anu! Bobbylon
